Because I strongly believe struggling readers need a way to picture each English sound and examine how to make each sound, I created Easier English for Dyslexics ebook series and coloring book based on the images below.
Good readers, research shows, expertly use two skills that poor readers don't -- knowing
letter sounds and
how to blend sounds.
Easier English for Dyslexics illustrated ebook series is a fast, easy overview for overlearning these key reading abilities.
The following pictures from the ebook Overcoming Dyslexia with Pictures are designed to strengthen memory of the letter sound code particularly for older struggling readers.

Use the pictures to help master each sound. Then practice connecting the sounds in each picture's keywords to the letters that represent those sounds. For audio of the sounds to go along with the pictures see Learn English Sounds with Pictures and Audio.
Helpful hint: every vowel can become a schwa (short U) sound, and Y can be a number of different vowel sounds explained in Just Vowel Sounds PDF below. For more about spelling patterns for each sound, see Easier English for Dyslexics 1: All the Sounds in English.
...because I believe drawing pictures for each sound and speaking each sound when writing words will improve reading skills more rapidly.
Books from the Easier English for Dyslexics ebook series are offered free at Amazon most weekends. Find free Kindle for Android ebook viewer here. The colorful, imaginative ebook series reviews how to make the sounds in English and all their different spelling patterns.
There is also a paperback reference, My Easier English Coloring Book: All the Sounds in English. For more about me, see D M Baker's author profile.
